Consuelo De Arellano of Blue Island, passed from this life Thursday, March 21, 2024 at the age of eighty years.

Consuelo was the beloved wife of the late Raul Arellano, who passed away August 11, 2008. She is the loving mother of Ruben Arellano, Susana Arellano, Lourdes Arellano (Guadalupe Carrillo), Raul Arellano (Antonia Martinez), Yesenia Arellano (Juan Carlos Rodriguez) and Carla Arellano (Antonio Rivera). Consuelo is the cherished grandmother of Eduardo Arellano, Ruben Arellano, Andres Arellano, Juanita Arellano, Eric Arellano, Diego Carrillo, Samantha Carrillo, Zackary Arellano, the late Ehecatl Arellano, Raul Arellano, Emiliano Arellano, Andrea Isabel Arellano, Andreina Arellano, Coraima Arellano, Saul Rivera and Camila Rivera. She is the loving sister of Enriqueta Castillo, Imelda Castillo, Ma Guadalupe Castillo, Ramiro Castillo, Artemio Castillo, Rosa Castillo and Obdulia Castillo. Consuelo leaves many other dear family members and friends to cherish her memory.

Consuelo was born February 7, 1944 in Estancia de Animas, Zacatecas, to the late J. Guadalupe Castillo and the late Martina Alvarado. She was a woman who devoted her life to the care of others. Consuelo guided her family with prayer and faith in God. She was the pure example of love and kindness to others, spending her days visiting and comforting those in need. Consuelo found great pleasure in tending to her garden, producing beautiful flowers for all to enjoy. She could also be found sewing and knitting lovely gifts. Consuelo had a tender heart for animals, with birds being her favorite. She was the heart and soul of her family and leaves a legacy of love to be honored for years to come.

Visitation for Consuelo will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2024 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Chapel prayers will begin Wednesday at 9:15 am at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Ave., Blue Island, then to St. Donatus Church, 1939 Union St., Blue Island, for mass at 10:00 am. Interment will take place at St. Benedict Cemetery in Crestwood.
