Obituary of Ronald D. Babb

Ronald D. Babb of Blue Island, passed from this life March 3, 2024 at the age of eighty-five.

Ronald was the beloved husband of the late Shirley J. nee Bane, who passed away December 21, 2001. The couple were united in marriage on November 20, 1960. He is the cherished father of Cynthia Babb, Debra (Paul) Nutcher, Michele (Edward) Ehrman and Jon (Jennifer) Babb. Ronald was the proud grandfather of Hadyn, Trevor, Ian, Liam, Gannon, Elle, Connor and Emily. He is the loving brother of Dennis and the late Harold, Ben, Tom and Daniel. Ron leaves many other dear family members and friends to cherish his memory.

Ronald was born December 19, 1938 in Hammond, Indiana to the late Edith nee Turpin and the late Loren Babb. He began his career as an attorney in 1973, serving his clients with the utmost respect for the law. Ron had a strong belief in supporting his country and community. He was a United States Army veteran, former Alderman for the City of Blue Island, former member of the Kiwanis Club and committed sponsor of Blue Cap. He was a kind and generous man giving of himself and his gifts. Ron was a faithful member of Grace United Methodist Church actively participating in various fundraising events. He had a wonderful sense of humor, often telling tales to his friends over meals at DeMars. Ron enjoyed traveling, especially trips to Vegas and relaxing days on the golf course.

Above all of his civic contributions to the community, Ron felt his true accomplishment in life was his family. He was devoted to his children, grandchildren and extended family members. His love of his family could be seen in the sparkle in his eye and the smile upon his face. Once you met Ron, he was a friend for life.

A memorial visitation for Ron will be held Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with a service conducted at 5:00 pm at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Ave., Blue Island. Cremation will be private.
