Obituary of Lois C. Riney

Lois C. Riney nee Voss of Blue Island, passed from this life Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at the age of ninety-three.

Lois was the beloved wife of the late Robert J. Riney who passed away July 13, 1990. She is the loving mother of Craig Riney, Lauren (Mike) Gierman, Sue (Mark) Schreiber, Robert (Tamorah) Riney, Karen Riney, James (Pauline) Riney, Tim Riney and Thomas Riney. Lois is the cherished grandmother of Tracy, Christopher, Lindsey, Matt, Stephanie, Luke, Dan, Mike, Cristin, Nick, Skylar, Cara and Kevin and the devoted great grandmother of fourteen. She was the dear sister of the late Carole (late Joe) Egert and the aunt of Joe Egert and Janice Egert.

Lois was born February 22, 1930 in Blue Island to the late Mildred nee Schreiber and the late Fred Voss. Her devotion to her family was unwavering, she enjoyed nothing more than spending time creating lasting memories with them. Lois stayed involved with her children as leader for Campfire Girls and as a Den Mother for Cub Scouts. She was a faithful member of St. Benedict Parish serving as Past President of the Womens Club and Past President of the Blue Island Knight of Columbus Womens Auxiliary. Lois was the founder of Woodhaven Goodtimers Club.

Above all, her passion was dance! Lois was a professional dancer with Avery productions and traveled across country with them. Her vibrant spirit came alive when she was performing. Lois taught dance to numerous children in Blue Island and Calumet Park over the years in her home studio. She also choreographed for Beverly Arts Center and the Masonic Temple.

Visitation for Lois will be held Sunday, February 4, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Chapel prayers will begin Monday at 9:15 am at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Ave., Blue Island, then to St. Benedict Church/St. Mary Magdalene Parish for mass at 10:00 am. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip.
